About Us

Aloha Hawaii BTA,

We’ve reached the half-way mark for the year!   While we have had several great programs (Howard Dicus and the Kaka’ako Treasure Hunt) I am excited for the months ahead.

After several years of serving on various committees and serving on the board in various roles, it is a privilege to serve as your president.  In my current role, I’ve attended 2 Chapter Presidents Council meetings and had the opportunity to network with other BTA presidents.  I’ve learned that our association, while small in membership, face similar challenges as our larger counterparts. The most common issue amongst all chapters is dwindling membership.  The questions are the same, how do we get new members?  How do we retain current members? How do we get members involved?  Is it our program?  Is it our scholarship?  Is it our education?   Apparently, I was not alone with these concerns.

Your board is committed to the membership and the organization and want to continue to strengthen our association in many ways. Please help us by sharing on how we can make your membership more valuable for you, your career and your company.  We want to make sure that you are getting the most from your membership.  But we also ask you be involved because your contribution makes a difference.

This month we are planning a Pau Hana so we can exhale and get re-acquainted with each other.  There will be no “formal” program it will be a chance to catch up with each other.    Be on the look-out for the information coming out soon.

I look forward to serving you and to growing our presence in the business travel community!

Mahalo nui loa,

Lorena B. Horiuchi
